A big thank you to all of you for helping us create another fun-filled swing dance weekend. We hope you’ve managed to recover from the late nights of dancing, the brain teasing workshops and the copious amounts of food! A few people need special mention for their huge efforts over the weekend...
Our volunteers – Akriti, Barry & Chris – thank you for your hard work over the weekend, we couldn’t have managed it all without you!
Our wonderful teachers – Dave & Claudia, Shob & Andy and Josh – Thank you for your inspiring and fun teaching. Thank you also for getting into the spirit of the camp and taking the time to dance with everyone!
Our excellent DJs – Peter, Josh, Amanda, Matt, Isaac – Thank you for your great music and for keeping our blues room well populated with great sounds!
The Queen City Big Band – Thanks for an awesome night of red hot swing! As always, we LOVED it!
Our performance teams – Hepcat Swing, Cinnamon Sweethearts, Jitterbugs and the teachers.....oh and the Cinnamon Tarts – Thanks for some great entertainment and for all your energy!
The Third Eye – for lending us so many wonderful items to help decorate our hall.
Videos - We would love it if you could send us your videos from classes so that we can burn the whole collection onto DVD for anyone that didn’t have a camera. Cost will be $2 + postage. Please send a disc with your clips to 39 Glover Road, St Heliers, Auckland 1071.
Feedback – Lastly, we would appreciate any feedback you have on the weekend. Please send it through us at michelle@jitterbugs.co.nz
Thank you again for coming along. We’re already getting ready for NZX011...tentative dates for your diary are are 8-11 April. See you on the dancefloor!

NZX010 | Update 14 June
Only 4 days til we hit the heat of the Arabian dancefloor at NZX010! Are you getting excited yet?....well you should be!!
Ok, we’ve got a whole bunch of things to tell you guys, so make sure you read ALL of this :-)
It’s cold out there....so make sure you bring warm clothes and something to keep you dry (raincoat/umbrella). Temperatures have been cold in the city and they’re only going to be colder in the country! If you’ve got an extra heater or blanket, and you’ve got room in your car, we recommend you bring it. You’d rather have it and not use it then not have it and need it!
Don’t forget your bed linen, blankets/sleeping bags and pillows.....oh, and towels. These are NOT provided, so you must bring your own.
Bathrooms are shared, so you might like to bring a robe and/or slippers to walk through the corridors.
Aucklanders – can any of you arrive early (9am onwards) to give us a hand setting up camp? It would be greatly appreciated. If you’re able to lend a hand, please let Melita know (melita@jitterbugs.co.nz or 021 887 248)
Still looking for that special something to give your outfit the finishing touches? Well, head on down to The Third Eye, 177 Karangahape Road, Auckland. They have everything and anything you would need to dress up for our Arabian Nights theme. They are open everyday, so there are no excuses! Get on down to The Third Eye for a 20% discount on belly dancing gear and a 10% discount on everything else in store. Just print out this email and present it at the counter to get your discount.
Hairdos.....have you booked in to have your hair done by Debonaire Doos at the camp on Saturday night yet? $25 for ladies and $5 for gents. There are limited appointment spaces 5-7pm. Contact Michelle now to book your spot ph 021 183 7705 or email michswingal@yahoo.co.nz
There is no alcohol and no smoking on camp grounds. Please respect the camp rules. However, it’s BYO at the hall where we have our dances on the Friday and Saturday nights.
You can join in the fun and do some activities while at camp – downhill carts, archery, flying fox, burma trail – it’s lots of fun! Please note that you need to sign up for the activities (we get charged per person using the equipments) as these need to be supervised.
Don’t forget, we’ll also have massage available on site with David Chen – just book when you get to camp.
Maries Discount Shoes will also be at camp with lots of dancing shoes to try on and buy at special camp prices.
Shuttles – please check that we have you down for the correct pickup shuttle:

1 Maria Amos
FRIDAY | 3.30pm pickup

NZX010 | Update |
23 June, 2010
Late payment/registration
If you have registered but not paid or you are still going to register, you can still do so until Thu 17 Jun, but you will be charged a late fee of $50 on all passes except the Dine & Dance pass.
DJing
Fancy a turn at calling the tunes on the night? We need DJs to play one hour slots at our dance on Friday night and to DJ in the band breaks on Saturday. We also need some DJs to work their magic in our blues room each night from midnight onwards. If you feel the urge, there is also the fun Battle of the DJs event on Sunday. Let us know if you’d like to take your turn on the turntables, contact michelle@jitterbugs.co.nz
Bedding & keeping warm
Please make sure you bring enough clothes to keep you warm and dry at camp. It’s a good 5-10min walk between camp and Ararimu Hall, so if it’s raining, you’ll need something to keep you dry. Each dorm room has 8 bunks in it with a heater. Make sure you bring your sleeping bag or some linen for your bed. There are no pillows, so you might like to bring your own.
Can you help?
We are in need of helpers to help set up camp on Friday from 9am onwards and to help pack down on Monday. So if you can help in anyway please contact melita@jitterbugs.co.nz
Please note, at this stage there are NO REFUNDS or CANCELLATIONS as numbers have been confirmed with the camp for catering purposes. No exceptions.
