Learn to Dance

The Last Dance

Apologies to our students, but as of Monday 20 April 2015 Jitterbugs will no longer be running weekly classes. We have been on an amazing journey together and it has been a pleasure to teach swing dancing to so many wonderful people over the last 17 years.

We run beginner and intermediate classes at both of our venues so that it is easy to progress. Cost per course is $50 per 4 week course or $40 with valid student ID or Community Card. Sorry no EFTPOS or cheques accepted.

How it works - Beginners

We run our classes as 4 week block courses. You are welcome to start in either the 1st or 2nd week of any Beginners block course and block courses can be done in any order. Cost per course is $50 or $40 with a valid student ID or community services card.

Your first class is FREE when you join our mailing list. If you sign up to a block course on the same night as your first class, then we give you a $10 discount on your first block course. Other than this, there is no discount for joining the course late.

You may attend and pay for the first 2 classes of the course on a casual basis ($15 per class or $12 with a valid student ID or community services card), but you can only attend the 3rd and 4th week if you have signed up and paid for the entire block course.

We have 3 Beginner block courses:

  • Beginners A – 8 count basics
  • Beginners B – Charleston basics
  • Beginners C – 6 count basics

Once you’ve done all 3 Beginner block courses you can keep doing Beginners classes until you are ready to move up to Intermediate, OR move up to Intermediate and get a FREE Beginners class any time you attend an Intermediate class. The block courses will be different every time they are taught, so you’ll get some repetition of the core moves but plenty of new moves as well.

How it works – Intermediate

When you’re confident dancing all the core moves from our Beginners courses then it’s time to give Intermediate a try, but do keep attending Beginners as well – it’s great for your dancing and you’ll improve quicker. You can attend the Beginners class for FREE on the same night you are attending an Intermediate class.

  • Intermediate B – Charleston variations
  • Intermediate C – Tandem charleston
  • Intermediate D – Mixing It Up: transitions between styles/patterns

We might also throw some other courses into the mix including 1920s Charleston, Balboa or routines. The courses will be different every time and different courses will run at different venues.
